Beara -Breifne Greenway The O'Sullivan Beara Historic Route as part of the European Greenway

Other branches of the clan: O' Garra, Geary

The sept of O'Gara, Ó Gadhra in Irish, is closely associated with that of O'Hara. The name has become scarce in Ireland in modern times. Most of the survivors of the sept belong to North Connacht. A branch migrated to West Munster in the fifteenth century, there the name Ó Gadhra became anglicised and disguised under the synonym Geary and is still quite common in Counties Limerick and Kerry.

Cloonloo, Gurteen and Monasteraden are part of the ancestral home of the O'Garas and form a stage of the Beara-Breifne Greenway which is based on the historic march of O'Sullivan Beara in 1603.
